Upon completion of the auditing process, Netpak received certification for packaging under the BRC Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials. The certification scope included the manufacture, conversion and warehousing of folding cartons, sleeves and labels intended for food contact packaging applications.

At the time, BRC Global Standards were widely used by suppliers and retailers to help standardize quality, safety, operational criteria and manufacturers’ fulfillment of legal obligations in food and beverage packaging supply chains.

The Packaging and Packaging Materials standard was also recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative, making it especially relevant for customers that required documented supplier controls for food contact packaging.

In November 2013, Netpak became the first North American packaging printer to achieve BRC Global Standard certification for Packaging and Packaging Materials. The 2015 result marked the second consecutive audit period in which Netpak achieved an “A” grade.

Achieving and maintaining this certification required rigorous effort across the organization. The result reflected the commitment of Netpak’s co-founders, quality control, quality assurance, operations team and employees throughout the company.

The certification helped reinforce Netpak’s position as a packaging partner for customers that required safe, high-quality food packaging supported by documented procedures and continuous improvement.

The 2015 renewal reflected

  • 2Continued commitment to food safety standards.
  • 3Organization-wide buy-in to procedures and controls.
  • 4Ongoing quality, QC, QA and operations involvement.

Continuous improvement after the first audit

Salvatore Novello connected the second “A” grade to continuous improvement and Netpak’s commitment to food safety standards.

“We put together a team that focuses on standards, procedures and quality improvement to achieve BRC Certification. However, maintaining the standard requires buy-in from everyone in our organization. Our employees worked very hard to make this happen. This shows current and prospective customers that we are a reliable company committed to producing safe, high quality food packaging.” Carlo Cammalleri, co-founder, Netpak Packaging
“Maintaining our ‘A’ grade was a goal that we set when we first achieved it. After our initial audit, we began a process of continuous improvement and the result is we have received the highest possible grade from BRC and have maintained it for two consecutive audits. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety. Our customers can have confidence that their packaging partner, Netpak Packaging, has met and will continue to meet the highest standards in the industry.” Salvatore Novello, co-founder, Netpak Packaging
