GMI Certification

Walgreens suppliers can work with Netpak for certified printed packaging programs

Netpak’s designation enables Walgreens private label suppliers to work with Netpak for printed packaging for Walgreens branded products, while supporting Walgreens PQA requirements for colour reproduction.

Certification Context

GMI certification validates the print controls behind branded packaging consistency

Netpak completed a program administered by Graphic Measures International, an organization that monitors and validates suppliers’ process controls and ability to deliver consistent results for brand-owner vendors.

To earn the renewal, a GMI auditor conducted on-site evaluations across the Netpak facility, testing processes and procedures related to colour reproduction and offset lithographic printing standards.

The certification recognizes that Netpak complies with GMI standards across key criteria including process control and documentation, training procedures, equipment maintenance and performance, and operator capability.

1. Process

Process control and documentation

Documented controls help align approved packaging expectations with repeatable production procedures.

2. Training

Training procedures

Training supports consistent operator practices and shared expectations across print production teams.

3. Equipment

Equipment maintenance and performance

Equipment condition and performance influence colour stability, registration and production reliability.

4. Capability

Operator capability

Operator capability helps ensure that colour targets, proofs and production standards are followed consistently.

Manufacturing Control

The GMI audit assesses the production areas that shape print consistency

The GMI audit assesses manufacturing controls across prepress, plate making, printing press and post-press operations. These stages determine how accurately approved artwork and colour expectations move from file preparation to finished printed packaging.

In addition to the trained eye of the colour matcher and printer, Netpak uses computer software, spectrophotometers and colour-balanced light booths to help ensure consistency.

For retail and private-label packaging programs, this combination of measurement, procedure and operator expertise supports repeatable colour reproduction and dependable packaging quality.

GMI manufacturing areas include

  • 1Prepress file preparation and process control.
  • 2Plate making for consistent print transfer.
  • 3Printing press performance and colour control.
  • 4Post-press operations for finished packaging quality.
  • 5Measurement tools supporting repeatable colour reproduction.

Colour Control

Consistent packaging colour depends on measurement and production discipline

GMI certification helps validate the processes used to reproduce brand colour reliably across printed packaging programs.

Customer Value

Certified print packaging support helps protect brand integrity

For Walgreens private label suppliers and other brand owners, consistent colour reproduction is essential. Packaging has to match approved artwork, preserve brand recognition, meet quality expectations and perform across production runs.

GMI certification helps control the variables that can affect brand integrity, including proofing, colour matching, press performance, operator procedures and post-press execution.

As a printing and packaging leader, Netpak is proud to demonstrate high levels of reliability, quality and consistency associated with its production.

Certified print packaging helps support

  • 1Brand-owner colour standards and packaging requirements.
  • 2Private label packaging programs for major retailers.
  • 3Repeatable colour reproduction across production runs.
  • 4Quality control from file preparation through post-press.
  • 5Customer confidence in packaging consistency and reliability.
Certification Progress

Netpak’s certification program has continued to support demanding packaging markets

Since this announcement, Netpak’s certification program has continued to advance across food safety, quality management, responsible sourcing and print quality controls. Current certification references include BRCGS AA+ Certification, ISO 9001, FSC, PEFC, SFI and GMI-related print quality controls.

These programs support the same customer priorities reflected in the GMI renewal: consistent print quality, reliable process control, documented production discipline, supplier confidence and packaging that protects brand integrity.
